City Centre

Frederiksberg

Frederiksberg is characterised by its stately homes and wide boulevards, and a fine sprinkling of tempting shops and delis.

Over the last decade, the international profile of Copenhagen's fashion designers has increased dramatically.

Copenhagen’s largest shopping area is centred around Europe’s longest pedestrian shopping street – Strøget – and the streets that surround it. Strøget has everything from Danish high street store names such as Vera Moda and Vila to the exclusive silver, porcelain, and glassware of the Royal Scandinavia shops, as well as exclusive electronic brands like Bang & Olufsen.

Take a slight detour from the eastern end of Strøget in the quarter around Kronprinsessegade/Ny Østergade and you'll find charming, narrow streets lined with colourful, half-timbered houses that have been converted into design and fashion shops. This area is also home to department stores such as Illum and Magasin, as well as flagship stores from leading Danish designers, and international names such as Munthe plus Simonsen, Malene Birger, and Day.
